Food 4 the Soul: Country Comfort

Today's post is inspired by a quick meal that I enjoyed growing up. After catching fish, cleaning and frying them, we would make a simple "country" meal by adding grits and toast. As I prepared this meal, I thought about how the Lord provided a simple meal on two occasions for the multitudes that followed Him. The meal was simple, yet it provided nourishment for those who attended the gatherings.

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children. (Matthew 14:13-21)

Jesus had compassion on them because of their efforts to follow Him. On today, I want to encourage those who have sacrificed personal things to follow Jesus. He will not forget your sacrifice and will provide all that you need as you strive to do His will. Jesus recognized the people's hunger and provided. He will not forget you and the things that you need as you follow Him. He delivered the people from their present hunger and will do the same for you today.
