Food 4 the Soul: Jubilee Time

Today's post was inspired by yellow cake with strawberry frosting and topped with strawberry slices, entitled "Jubilee Time." . God is God of mercy. When He proclaimed His name to Moses, He described Himself as merciful When considering the Law and the Commandments, there is elements of mercy distributed throughout them. God made provisions for sins through the sacrificial system. He understood humankind and the influence of sin; thus, the system provided forgiveness as a visible act of mercy.

In addition to forgiveness of sins, God instituted the year of Jubilee whereby those who were in debt or serving as debt slaves could be released from their debts and service.

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. (Levticus 25:10)

From these verses, we discover that God wanted His people to remember mercy to those who were indebted to them. On today, remember God mercy shown to you in Christ. Think of those who owe you naturally and may have wrong you physically and ask God to help you to who mercy. Forgive others as God has forgiven you.
