Food 4 the Soul: Sling Shot Surprise

    Many men remember being boys playing with bought or make-shift slingshots. The most common game played with the slingshot was who can hit the target. I thought about this as I was making this breakfast meal. When creating the mixture for the quiche, I thought about how when it is finished, one will not know all of the ingredients in it at first sight, but as it is eaten a surprise is experienced as the new flavors are discovered. Immediately, I remembered the story of David and Goliath and how everyone was surprised when Goliath fell dead after David's slingshot throw.

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. I Samuel 17:49

        Israel seemed to be in losing situation, but God's method of deliverance surprised all. Some Christians today are facing seeming impossible situations. Doubts plague the mind. Fears grip the heart. Worries dominate the senses. However, just as Israel experienced a sling shot surprise, many will also see God's deliverance in surprising manners. The situations may be bad, but God is good and greater. Continue to stand in faith if you are in need of God's intervention and help, knowing that He is faithful and will move on your behalf regardless of the intensity of the trouble.
